Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and characteristics of
colloquial language variations found in the comment section of
the Instagram account “fuji_an.” Using a qualitative descriptive
approach, data was collected through observation and
documentation of user comments containing nonstandard
linguistic features. The analysis focuses on identifying colloquial
forms, classifying variations using sociolinguistic theories and
interpreting the word formation processes involved. The results
show that the colloquial variations appearing in the comments are
dominated by phonological modifications, playful spellings,
shortenings, and puns, such as gumush, cantek, kiw-kiw, and
amay. These forms reflect the influence of social media on
everyday language practices among Indonesian youth, supporting
previous studies on digital language variation study concludes
that Instagram plays a significant role in the spread and
normalization of colloquial expressions in contemporary
Indonesian communication
